Pilgrimages of Reverse Mission

Transforming life into a tool for authentic Christian discipleship requires a new way of experiencing and seeing our world. A Ministry of Money pilgrimage of reverse mission enables individuals to give and receive the gift of presence, and to experience direct involvement with the poor in places such as Haiti, Israel/Palestine, Central & South America, India and Africa.

On a pilgrimage, we experience culture shock as we encounter suffering, broken refugees, and the poorest of the poor. By opening ourselves to this other world, we invite a new sense of humility, gratitude, and joy to live in us. We go not only for personal conversion, but as the privileged of the "first world" who have more than enough. We fervently hope to discover what God desires of us and in response, we seek to:

• express our gratitude,
• acknowledge our responsibility,
• become agents of systemic change and reconciliation, and
• be responsive to new forms of discipleship.

Ministry of Money also develops, coordinates and leads customized 'pilgrimages of reverse mission' for parish groups, organizations and educational institutions, such as Virginia Theological Seminary, Georgetown University, Scranton University and St. Joseph's University.
